About Me

Hi! My name is Kyra, and I am a senior BM Musical Theatre major at Florida State University. I’m originally from Westfield, New Jersey, and will be venturing back home and eventually moving to the big apple after my graduation in May!

I have been singing for as long as I can remember. I used to hum along to songs in my crib as a toddler, and that transformed into my love for musical theatre! This profession has taught me so much thus far; patience, inquisitiveness, risk-taking, and an overall love for growth.

As a Bachelor of Music at Florida State, I have been able to learn so much about music theory, composition, and sight singing. With my degree, I have taken piano classes, Music Technology, where I learned to use Pro Tools and Sibelius for production, and Commercial Dance, where I learned to use Final Cut Pro.

Prior to my time studying at Florida State University, I attended Class Act Performing Arts Studio for seven years, taking many dance classes and voice lessons. In my time there, I learned what true artistry looked like from my peers and teachers. I was able to participate in many shows, from Seussical to Carousel, as well as dance conventions and competitions. I loved every minute of my time at CAPAS and continue to value the relationships I cultivated there.

When I am not training or performing, you can find me scouring through Spotify to find new music to hyper-fixate on, learning how to use my newly purchased Tarot cards for readings, and playing Wii Sports with my roommates. In the summertime, I am blessed to be able to spend time with my family and take advantage of the Jersey Shore sunshine down in Manasquan. A few of my favorite musical artists to listen to in my free time are Lorde, Fleetwood Mac, and The Japanese House. I love to write poetry, and have done a few readings in front of peers. Songwriting is another one of my passions, and I often play “Blackbird”, “Velvet Ring” by Big Thief, and “Multiply” by Dora Jar on the guitar to better my skills.

I am a lover of art in all forms, and so humbled and eager to be able to pursue musical theatre as a career!
